Alfirin Energy Seeks License Amendment from EPDK to Export Electricity to Iraq

Foreks - Alfirin Energy Trade Inc. has submitted an application for a license amendment to the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) to export electricity to Iraq.

According to a statement from EPDK, Alfirin Energy, which holds a supply license, has applied to the Authority under the provisions of the Electricity Market Law No. 4628 and the Electricity Market Import and Export Regulation to amend its license for the export of electricity energy to Iraq through the existing 400 kV Cizre-Kasek interconnection line between Turkey and Iraq, allocating a maximum capacity of 300 MW for a period of two years from the date of the license amendment.

The statement read: "According to the fourth paragraph of subparagraph (b) of Article 8 of the Electricity Market Import and Export Regulation, legal entities holding supply or electricity production licenses who want to conduct electricity export activities to Iraq using the existing 400 kV Cizre-Kasek interconnection line and those holding supply licenses who want to engage in electricity import activities from Iraq through the same line must apply to our Authority in accordance with the relevant legislation by the end of business on 13/01/2025. Applications made after this date will not be accepted."
