Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz made the following remarks in a statement regarding the subject: "Today in Şanlıurfa, we held a GAP Action Plan Informative and Consultation Meeting with the esteemed members of the Economic Coordination Council along with our Ministers.
The GAP, brought to life by the strong political will of our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, has transformed not only by providing water to fields but also into a development story that offers jobs to youth, opportunities to women, and a bright future for our children.
With public investments of approximately 1 trillion 40 billion lira made in the GAP region between 2003-2024 at current prices, we have strengthened stability in the region and made significant progress in all dimensions of development. Thus, the classic GAP has largely been completed.
In our new GAP Action Plan covering the period 2024-2028, we aim to complete irrigation investments, to promote efficient and smart agricultural practices, to foster tourism-based growth, and most importantly, to create an attractive investment environment for the private sector with the 198 projects and the allocated budget of 496 billion lira.
With the new Action Plan, the region will become a model center for sustainable development through smart agriculture, high-tech production, and innovative incentive programs, inspiring development projects worldwide with increasing job opportunities and higher living standards.
The century of Turkey will encompass peace and prosperity for all our cities and regions.
I wish our Action Plan to be beneficial for our country, our nation, and our region. I thank all our ministries, particularly the Ministry of Industry and Technology, our investor organizations, and the GAP Regional Development Administration for their contributions to this process."
