Polat Energy Signs Contract with SolarToday for Product Supply, Engineering, and Construction Services
Polat Enerji signed a product supply, engineering, and construction contract with SolarToday for the installation of a CATL brand energy storage unit with a capacity of 12.8 MW/15.176 MWh as part of the capacity increase project at the Ege Wind Power Plant. The product supply for the project will be managed by SolarToday Turkey, while the turnkey integration and commissioning of the system will be carried out by iNOVAT, one of Turkey's leading companies in the energy storage field. Additionally, the project will utilize the locally developed Energy Management System (EMS) by iNOVAT.
An signing ceremony was held on Thursday, January 2, at the Polat Enerji Headquarters, attended by Polat Enerji CEO Cem Deniz, SolarToday Turkey CEO Mario Dalsarfati, and iNOVAT Energy Storage Solutions Managing Partner Can Tokcan. In his speech at the ceremony, Cem Deniz mentioned that Turkey has witnessed impressive growth in renewable energy over the past decade, stating, “As Polat Enerji, we aim to maintain a pioneering position not only in renewable energy production but also in energy storage, optimizing production imbalances and improving the production profile. This strategic project once again highlights the critical role of energy storage technologies in increasing renewable energy capacity. We aim to create a success story that will serve as an example in the European market with this project. We are proud to take this significant step that will realize Turkey's immense renewable energy potential and contribute to the energy transition and a sustainable future.”
Mario Dalsarfati, CEO of SolarToday Turkey, expressed their satisfaction in partnering with Polat Enerji, one of Turkey's leading companies, for a storage-based wind power project, recalling that they have been supplying internationally standardized products in the renewable energy sector across 25 countries in Europe for over 14 years.
Can Tokcan, Managing Partner of iNOVAT, emphasized that as an engineering and software-focused technology company, they aim to contribute significantly to Turkey's energy transition process with the solutions they provide in energy storage and energy management systems.
Polat Enerji is taking a pioneering step in energy storage in Turkey. SolarToday Turkey will supply the products for the advanced technology energy storage system with a capacity of 15 MWh to be integrated into Polat Enerji's EGE RES project located in Izmir. The turnkey integration and commissioning of the system will be managed by iNOVAT, a leading company in energy storage in Turkey. Moreover, the locally developed Energy Management System (EMS) by iNOVAT will be used in the project. With this project, Taliva Energy, which also conducts operations in Turkey and Eastern Europe, is signing one of the first examples of energy storage in Turkey.
This project begins a new era in energy storage infrastructure by combining globally proven battery technology, the Power Conversion System (PCS), and local Energy Management System (EMS) and engineering solutions. The system will enable the storage of electricity produced from wind energy to be transferred to the grid when needed, manage production imbalances, and maximize the revenue of the energy storage system through trading optimizations. Thus, while optimizing wind energy production, it will contribute significantly to the stability of Turkey's electricity grid. This project will highlight the importance of Battery Energy Storage Systems in increasing renewable energy capacity.
