Lightning: We Expect Inflation to Align with Our Targets in 2025

The Minister of Treasury and Finance, Mehmet Şimşek, stated, "Resolving our citizens' cost of living issues is our top priority," and expressed expectations for inflation to align with targets by 2025.

Speaking via platform X, Şimşek remarked: "Resolving our citizens' cost of living issues is our top priority. In this regard, we have established the necessary policy framework and are steadfastly continuing to implement the disinflation program.

In December, inflation reached its lowest level in 19 months at 1%. Annual inflation decreased to 44.4%, which is 2.4 points above the Central Bank's forecast range announced in November 2023. Thus, inflation in 2024 is projected to be 20 points lower compared to the end of 2022 and 2023.

The decline in inflation will continue. Along with the increasing support of fiscal policy, we expect inflation to meet our targets in 2025 due to the easing of rigidity in service sector inflation and improvements in expectations."
