Chinese SPIC to Begin Construction of Alumina Processing Plant in Guinea

State Power Investment Corp. of China will begin the construction of an alumina processing plant this year after producing bauxite in the West African country of Guinea for the past three years. According to a statement from the presidency, SPIC will start construction in March and aims to complete the refinery, which will have a production capacity of 1.2 million tons of alumina per year, by the end of 2027. The statement also noted that SPIC will establish a 250 megawatt power plant, supplying 100 megawatts to the national grid. The company shipped 3.14 million tons of bauxite in 2023.
