Airbus Misses 2024 Delivery Target

Investing.com -- European aircraft manufacturer Airbus SE narrowly missed its annual target by delivering approximately 760 aircraft in 2024. This outcome followed an increase in deliveries in December that helped the company recover from a slow start to the year.

According to sources familiar with the figures, the company's December delivery count approached 120. The sources also indicated that the final number could vary slightly. Airbus is expected to disclose its official order and delivery figures for 2024 on January 9.

If the company had significantly missed its target of 770 units, it would have been required to publicly disclose this due to stock market regulations.

The increase in deliveries in December marks a turning point for Airbus, which has struggled to ramp up production due to supply chain bottlenecks. The company initially aimed to deliver 800 aircraft in 2024 but had to lower that target in June due to parts shortages.

Airbus has not yet announced a new delivery target for the current year. This metric is closely monitored by investors as it provides monthly updates on the state of the commercial aviation sector. Bloomberg Intelligence analysts predict that Airbus will deliver 869 aircraft in 2025.

Airbus has a backlog of thousands of orders that ensures several years of continuous production. Airlines are eager to acquire the latest fuel-efficient models, such as the A320neo and the larger A350 widebody.
