Macau's Gambling Revenues Declined in December, But Increased by 23.9% for the Year

In December, Macau's gambling revenue experienced its first decline of the year, while the total revenue for the year increased by 23.9%. According to the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ), gambling revenue fell by 0.2% in December compared to the same month last year, reaching 18.2 billion patacas (MOP). The revenue for the same month last year was 18.6 billion MOP. For the entire year, the revenue increased by 23.9% to 226.8 billion MOP. Macau is considered one of the world's largest gambling centers, alongside Las Vegas in the United States, and it is the largest casino market in the world in terms of turnover. Macau remained a Portuguese colony until December 20, 1999, when it became a special administrative region of the People's Republic of China.
