Most Bitcoin Predictions for 2025 Anticipate a Price Surge to $200,000

Foreks - Following the rapid rise of Bitcoin this year, crypto investors and industry executives expressed to CNBC their expectations that the leading cryptocurrency will reach an all-time high in 2025. James Butterfill, the research director at the crypto-focused asset manager CoinShares, stated in an interview with CNBC that he sees both $150,000 and $80,000 price points for Bitcoin in 2025. Butterfill suggested that it would not be “unreasonable” to expect Bitcoin's market share to be worth about 25% of gold, which would correspond to a price of $250,000.

In his email statements to CNBC, Butterfill added, "The timing of this is very difficult, and I don't expect it to happen in 2025, but it is moving in that direction." He mentioned that it is "probable" for Bitcoin to reach both $80,000 and $150,000 over the course of the year.

Matrixport, a crypto financial services firm, conveyed that Bitcoin could reach $160,000 in 2025. Markus Thielen, the research director at Matrixport, explained in an email to CNBC, "This outlook is supported by sustained demand for Bitcoin ETFs, positive macroeconomic trends, and an expanding global liquidity pool." Known for its volatility, Bitcoin has a potential correction range of 70% to 80% from its all-time highs. Thielen remarked that dips in 2025 will be "less pronounced." He noted, "The growing base of dip buyers and strong institutional support for Bitcoin are expected to mitigate significant corrections." Matrixport has predicted that Bitcoin will reach $125,000 in 2024.

Alex Thorn, the research director at crypto-focused asset manager Galaxy Digital, believes Bitcoin will surpass $150,000 in the first half of the year and reach $185,000 in the fourth quarter. In a research note shared with CNBC, Thorn wrote, "A combination of adoption by corporations, companies, and nation-states will propel Bitcoin to new heights in 2025." He added, "Throughout its existence, Bitcoin has appreciated in value faster than all other asset classes, particularly the S&P 500 and gold, and this trend will continue into 2025." Thorn also stated Bitcoin will reach 20% of gold's market value.

Geoffrey Kendrick from Standard Chartered anticipates that Bitcoin's price will double. In a note published earlier this month, the head of digital assets research at the bank mentioned that he expects Bitcoin to reach $200,000 by the end of 2025. Standard Chartered expects corporate inflows into Bitcoin to continue "at a pace of 2024 or above" next year.

Carol Alexander, a finance professor at the University of Sussex, sees a $200,000 Bitcoin as a possibility next year. She told CNBC, "I have gone more bullish for 2025 than ever," adding that Bitcoin's price could "easily reach $200,000 but there are no signs that volatility will diminish." She expects it to trade around $150,000 plus or minus $50,000 by summer. Alexander has a track record of accurately predicting Bitcoin's price; last year she said Bitcoin would reach $100,000 in 2024, which happened.

Youwei Yang, chief economist at Bit Mining, predicts Bitcoin will reach a price range between $180,000 and $190,000 in 2025, yet remains cautious about potential price pullbacks. Yang stated to CNBC, "Bitcoin's price in 2025 is likely to experience both significant upward momentum and sharp corrections at times." He added, "In moments of market shocks, such as a major exchange decline, Bitcoin could temporarily drop to around $80,000. However, the general trend is expected to remain upward." Yang identified lower interest rates, support from Trump, and increasing institutional adoption as underlying factors for an expected Bitcoin rally in 2025. He concluded, "Based on these dynamics, I predict Bitcoin could peak at between $180,000 and $190,000 in 2025, which aligns with historical cyclical patterns and the increasing mainstream adoption of crypto."

Sid Powell, CEO and co-founder of the centralized finance platform Maple Finance, is targeting a price for Bitcoin between $180,000 and $200,000 by the end of 2025.

Elitsa Taskova, chief product officer of the crypto lending platform Nexo, is even more bullish on Bitcoin's 2025 outlook than the general consensus. Speaking to CNBC, Taskova stated, "We believe Bitcoin will more than double in a year and reach $250,000," and added that in the longer term – within the next decade – she expects the total market capitalization of all cryptocurrencies to surpass that of gold.
