Weekly Steel Production Declines in the U.S.

Foreks - Raw steel production in the U.S. showed a decline on a weekly basis. According to data released by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), raw steel production in the week ending December 28 decreased by 1.9% compared to the previous week, reaching 1.658 million tons. Production fell by 2.8% compared to the same month last year. Steel producers operated at a capacity utilization rate of 74.7% during the week in question. Year-to-date production has been determined to be 87.049 million tons, a decrease of 2.5% compared to the same period last year. The capacity utilization rate of steel producers during this period was 75.6%.
