Retail Prices in Istanbul Rose by 1.74% in December

In December 2024, in Istanbul, the Istanbul Consumer Prices Index, which reflects retail price movements, increased by 1.74% compared to the previous month. The Wholesale Price Index, which reflects wholesale price movements, rose by 0.82%.

The year-on-year change rates for price changes observed in December 2024, compared to December 2023, indicated an increase of 55.27% in the Consumer Prices Index based on 1995, and 40.64% in the Wholesale Price Index according to the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO).

In December 2024, retail prices saw the following monthly changes: a 4.55% increase in Housing Expenditures, a 2.34% increase in Culture, Education, and Entertainment Expenditures, a 1.13% increase in Household Goods Expenditures, a 1.05% increase in Clothing Expenditures, a 0.93% increase in Food Expenditures, a 0.77% increase in Transportation and Communication Expenditures, a 0.54% increase in Health and Personal Care Expenditures, and a 0.15% increase in Other Expenditures.

In December 2024, wholesale prices showed the following monthly changes: a 4.26% increase in Textile Goods, a 2.87% increase in Construction Materials, a 2.74% increase in Fuel and Energy Materials, a 1.35% increase in Chemical Materials, a 1.18% increase in Food Products, and a 0.48% increase in Minerals; while a decrease of 3.61% was observed in Raw Materials.
