Turk Telekom CEO Onal: "We're Bringing Fiber Speed to Every Corner of Turkey"
Foreks - Türk Telekom, which continues fiber infrastructure works throughout Turkey to build a digital future, welcomed the new year with field operations carried out in Mardin to provide high-speed internet accessible to everyone.
Covering Turkey from east to west and from south to north with fiber networks, Türk Telekom increased its total fiber network length to 474,000 kilometers with efforts conducted on December 31st in the historic Mardin Dara Ancient City, which sheds light on civilization. In Mardin, where the fiberization rate is approaching one hundred percent, the access speed capacity provided by Türk Telekom surpassed the national average, reaching 487 Mbps. By ushering in the era of Fiber Mobility and expanding digital experiences, Türk Telekom raised the proportion of fiber-connected LTE mobile base stations in the city to 56%, exceeding the national average of 53%. With its strong infrastructure and technological know-how, Türk Telekom guides businesses in their digital transformation, contributing to their competitiveness in the global arena by completing the fiber infrastructure transformation that provides 1 Gbps access speed in the Mardin Organized Industrial Zone.
"Fiber Mobility reinforces our goal of making our country a leader in global technology competition," stated Ümit Önal, CEO of Türk Telekom, who welcomed the new year by visiting the teams working in the fiber transformation field in Mardin. With the dedicated efforts of our teams in this historically rich area, we have approached the hundred percent mark in the fiber network transformation of Mardin. Through our efforts covering the city center, districts, and villages, we have increased the average access speed capacity we can offer in Mardin above the national average, raising it to 487 Mbps."
Önal also noted that fiber investments and efforts will continue uninterrupted in 2025, expressing that they play a leading role in implementing innovative technologies. He stated, "Our fiber infrastructure forms the cornerstone of the innovations that 5G technology will bring into our lives. We are now in a new era where we transfer our strength in fiber to mobile. With this strategy, which we call 'Fiber Mobility' and which reinforces our goal of making our country a leader in global technology competition, we have raised our proportion of fiber-connected LTE mobile base stations to 53%.
