The Number of Drilling Rigs in the U.S. Increases
Foreks - The number of active oil and natural gas drilling rigs in the U.S. has increased. According to a report shared via email by Baker Hughes in collaboration with Foreks News, the total number of oil and natural gas drilling rigs, which had decreased by 3 over the previous 6 weeks, increased by 7 during the period ending December 6, reaching a total of 589. The number of rigs is down by 37 compared to the same period last year. The count of oil drilling rigs rose by 5 to 482, while the number of natural gas drilling rigs increased by 2 to 102, with 5 rigs engaged in dual-purpose drilling for both products remaining unchanged. Out of the drilling rigs, 572 are located onshore, 15 offshore, and 2 in inland waters, which are used for projections regarding future oil production. -Canada and the Gulf of Mexico- In the same week, the number of drilling rigs in Canada decreased by 11 to a total of 194. The number of oil rigs fell by 10 to 124, while the count of natural gas rigs remained unchanged at 70. The number of rigs drilling for both products stayed at 1. In Mexico, the number of drilling rigs increased by 1 to reach 13, while the total for North America decreased by 4 to 783.
