Kacır: We Issued 3,068 Incentive Certificates for Investments in the Chemical Sector with Our Investment Incentives
The Minister of Industry and Technology, Mehmet Fatih Kacır, stated regarding the Chemical Technology Center, which is an important step in advancing the technology development and testing infrastructure of the chemical sector and realized with an investment of 165 million lira, "In our center located within the Informatics Valley; 209 tests and analyses, 39 of which have not been conducted in our country until now, will be carried out with local resources."
Minister Kacır, along with the Minister of Trade, Ömer Bolat, inaugurated the Chemical Technology Center implemented in Gebze, where test and analysis services needed for export and import activities in the chemical sector, as well as R&D activities, certification, access to information, and other consulting services can be provided.
Emphasizing that decisive steps are being taken to advance Turkey at the center of value-added and high-tech production in line with the vision of the National Technology Move, Minister Kacır said:
INNOVATION FOCUSED: We support all sectors that play a locomotive role in domestic and national production with all our capabilities, paving the way for sustainable growth. With our organized industrial zones, which we have increased from 191 to 364, and the establishment of 45 industrial zones, Turkey has become a global production hub. Over 11,000 technology initiatives are focused on innovation in the 105 technoparks we have established.
TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT AND MANUFACTURING: Under the leadership of our private sector, more than 1,600 R&D and design centers are developing projects that will accelerate value-added production. We have activated and continue to activate components that will feed the robust infrastructure we have built with strong technology development and manufacturing capabilities.
R&D EXPENDITURES: The increase of our R&D expenditures from 1.2 billion dollars to 16 billion dollars and the increase in the number of R&D personnel from 29,000 to 291,000 demonstrate the effectiveness of the support we provide. We will continue to implement projects that spread the high technology-focused growth of our industry to all sectors together.
STRATEGIC IMPORTANCE: With the strong infrastructure we have created, we are integrating all our sectors into the growth and development process of our country. Our chemical sector, which serves as a fundamental building block in almost every area, from daily life needs to critical sectors, ranks among the strategically important fields for our country. The innovative, transformative, and problem-solving power of the chemical sector is increasingly impacting today's world.
PIONEERING ROLE: Chemical technologies are in a position to trigger future technologies with their pioneering role in areas such as battery and next-generation chip production, and in the production of renewable raw materials that will replace petroleum derivatives. Innovative endeavors in the global chemical sector are seen as the key to sustainability and economic transformations.
CRITICAL TECHNOLOGIES: Additionally, the advanced and backward connections created by the sector's supply chains, which bring together thousands of different products with industrialists and consumers, play a catalytic role in the development of many sectors in industry. In this regard, we see developing the production and technology competencies of the chemical sector as a strategic priority to achieve our goal of full independence in critical technologies and to further strengthen our production infrastructure.
3,068 INCENTIVES: As the Ministry of Industry and Technology, we continue to contribute to our sector with our investment incentives and the support instruments we have launched. In the last 22 years, we have issued 3,068 incentive certificates for investments in the chemical sector through our investment incentives. We have unlocked 1.1 trillion lira in qualified investments and created 112,000 jobs.
TECHNOLOGY-FOCUSED INDUSTRIAL MOVEMENT: With our Technology-Focused Industrial Movement Program, where we provide end-to-end support from R&D to mass production for value-added projects, we are supporting a total of 24 projects in our chemical sector with an investment amount of 7.5 billion lira. Through programs implemented by TÜBİTAK, KOSGEB, and our Development Agencies, we have also provided 16 billion lira in contributions to projects in the field of chemistry. Alongside these support mechanisms, we offer our entrepreneurs investment areas with world-class infrastructure through the planned industrial areas we have established.
4 CHEMICAL SPECIALIZED OIZs: Currently, 7 of our 45 industrial zones have been established for the chemical sector. Chemical facilities are located in 136 of our organized industrial zones. We have established 4 Chemical Specialized OIZs to further advance our sector with a clustering approach that we consider critical for the competitiveness of our chemical sector. We continue to support large-scale and integrated petrochemical investments to meet our domestic raw material needs, produce high value-added, environmentally friendly, and competitive products, and lead in innovative chemical technologies.
INTEGRATED CHEMICAL FACILITY INVESTMENTS: In the upcoming period, we will realize the investment of integrated chemical facilities needed by our sector and our country in an area of 30 million square meters that we are establishing in Adana Ceyhan together with you. We are implementing projects that will simultaneously strengthen our sector's production infrastructure and expand the R&D and innovation capabilities in the field of chemistry.
7.8 BILLION LIRA SUPPORT: With 191 companies operating in our technoparks and 76 R&D centers, many of which are located within our industrial facilities, we have developed innovative projects with a contribution of 7.8 billion lira to date. Today, we are at the opening of the Chemical Technology Center, which has a critical importance in the testing and technology development infrastructure of our chemical sector.
CHEMICAL TECHNOLOGY CENTER: In our center located within the Informatics Valley, which we position as the technology hub of our country; 209 tests and analyses, 39 of which have not been carried out in our country until now, will be executed with local resources. Additionally, our center will provide easier access to the human resources and high-cost equipment and analyses that our SMEs need for their R&D studies. It will also offer consulting services for our companies in national and international projects.
CHEMICAL INCUBATION CENTER: The Chemical Incubation Center, which will be located in the Chemical Technology Center, will support the innovative projects of our entrepreneurs, contributing to the emergence of new startups from our country. This will provide us with the strength to create 100 Turcorns and 100,000 technology initiatives from our country by 2030.
WE WILL WALK SIDE BY SIDE: We will continue to support our chemical sector, which directly benefits our country and makes significant contributions to our industry, technology, and innovation ecosystem, with all our capabilities. We will continue to walk shoulder to shoulder with all our investors who share our efforts to develop our country along the paths of investment, employment, production, invention, and export.
