Erdoğan: "The Quicker Syria Recovers, the Faster Voluntary Returns Will Accelerate"
President and AK Party Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made significant statements during the AK Party Group Meeting held at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. Emphasizing the security of Syria and bilateral relations, Erdoğan addressed Turkey's strategic importance.
In his speech, Erdoğan expressed that the security and stability of Syria is a priority for Turkey. Highlighting the significant risks in relations with this neighbor, which has the longest border of 910 kilometers, the President underscored that achieving peace and tranquility is a necessity, not a luxury, for Turkey.
Clear stance against ISIS threat Erdoğan also articulated Turkey's resolute stance against the ISIS terrorist organization. He pointed out that Turkey is the only NATO ally engaged in armed combat against this brutal entity, stating that other countries do not have the right to draw borders or lecture Turkey.
He expressed that ISIS poses a significant threat not only to Western countries but also to Syria, Iraq, and Turkey, emphasizing that this organization must be completely eradicated. Erdoğan noted that Turkey would maintain a determined attitude regarding this issue and would continue to combat elements that threaten peace vigorously.
Emphasis on stability in relations with Syria In his remarks, President Erdoğan drew attention to the need for the reconstruction of Syria and the recovery of society. He indicated that if Syria can recover, the voluntary return of Syrian refugees longing for their homeland would accelerate.
The President stated that Turkey is striving to establish regional peace and that the fate of neighboring countries holds great importance for Turkey. He added that when the peace and stability of Syria are achieved, a significant step will be taken for Turkey's security.
