China to Focus on Stabilizing Housing Market Even in 2025

According to reports, efforts to stabilize China's real estate market and prevent further declines will continue into 2025. The report indicates that China will strongly promote reforms in its commercial housing sales system and expand urban village renewal to encompass more than an additional 1 million units. While strictly controlling the supply of commercial housing, China is set to increase the supply of affordable housing to help address the living challenges faced by a significant number of new citizens, young individuals, and migrant workers. Policymakers have accelerated efforts to revive the real estate sector by introducing new measures to boost housing demand following a government-led campaign in 2021 that triggered a crisis by restraining highly leveraged developers.
