Digital Turbine Acquires ONE Store International

Digital Turbine has announced the acquisition of ONE Store International, the leading alternative app marketplace in South Korea. This acquisition marks a new phase in the strategic collaboration between the two companies, aiming to provide app developers with growth opportunities on a global scale beyond existing app stores.

In February 2024, Digital Turbine established a strategic partnership by investing in ONE Store, South Korea's second-largest app store, focusing on introducing Digital Turbine's user acquisition solutions, including SingleTap, to the South Korean market. The acquisition of ONE Store International will expand the collaboration between the companies by bringing ONE Store’s proven and robust alternative app store into major app growth markets such as North America, the European Union, and Latin America. Digital Turbine and ONE Store will leverage Digital Turbine’s device network and SingleTap technology to provide developers publishing their applications on ONE Store with a seamless app installation experience. ONE Store Currently boasts 38 million users and an annual transaction volume of approximately $1 billion, demonstrating its significance and scale in the market.

Furthermore, Digital Turbine and ONE Store plan to collaborate on new technologies and distribution opportunities to soon extend this enhanced app store experience to iOS devices. As the partnership grows, Digital Turbine and ONE Store aim to move beyond the traditional app store model to offer developers and users greater value while creating new opportunities that contribute to the ecosystem's growth for mobile operators.

Digital Turbine CEO Bill Stone stated, “The app economy has faced challenges such as high fees, rigid policies, limited consumer choices, and a lack of control for developers to grow their businesses. This is not just an expansion of an app store; it is a significant step towards creating a fairer and more open mobile ecosystem that provides tools giving developers a real alternative path for app growth. This acquisition will enable us to offer a broader service, benefiting from the EU’s Digital Markets Act and scaling our offerings in the U.S. and Latin American markets.”

ONE Store CEO Peter Chun expressed excitement about collaborating with industry leader Digital Turbine to provide a better alternative app marketplace for mobile users in global markets. He noted, “Through this partnership, we aim to create a fair and open ecosystem that supports developers' success and promotes healthy competition.”

By collaborating with the largest mobile operators in the country to reach users and scale operations, ONE Store has become South Korea's second-largest app marketplace with over 38 million users and an annual transaction volume of about $1 billion. ONE Store’s model has proven that developers can achieve success beyond the monopoly of established app stores. With Digital Turbine's global device base and ONE Store's proven success, both companies aim to create a new growth strategy worldwide for mobile operators and developers.
