China Plans to Issue $411 Billion in Special Treasury Bonds Next Year

According to a report on Tuesday citing two unnamed sources, Chinese policymakers plan to issue special treasury bonds worth 1 trillion yuan this year and increase that amount to 3 trillion yuan (approximately $411 billion) by 2025.

The debt issuance plan for 2025 marks a sharp increase from this year's 1 trillion yuan and comes at a time when Beijing is preparing to mitigate the impact of the anticipated rise in tariffs on Chinese imports by the U.S. following Donald Trump's return to the White House in January.

The sources indicated that the revenue generated would be aimed at boosting consumption through financing for subsidy programs, equipment upgrades for businesses, and investments in advanced sectors driven by innovation. The sources requested anonymity due to the sensitivity of the discussions.
