Early Vacation Decision in Schools Due to Increased Traffic Density in Istanbul Before New Year's Eve
The Istanbul Governor's Office has made a critical decision in anticipation of potential traffic congestion and security measures before the New Year. It announced that all activities in educational institutions will end at 4:00 PM on December 31, Tuesday. This decision encompasses all public and private educational institutions in the city.
Details of the Decision
According to the announcement from the Istanbul Governor's Office, all preschool, primary, and secondary education institutions in Istanbul will conclude their educational activities by 4:00 PM on December 31, Tuesday. The statement highlighted that this decision was made to reduce traffic congestion and effectively implement security measures. The Governor's Office expressed that necessary information would be provided to parents and relevant institutions through its official website and social media accounts, ensuring that the implementation will be closely monitored.
The decision applies to all public and private preschool education institutions, primary education schools, and secondary education institutions in Istanbul. These institutions will complete their educational activities by the specified time and will transition to an early holiday before the New Year. This aims to alleviate the potential congestion during the city's New Year preparations to some extent.
New Year Holiday and School Status
Since December 31, 2024, is not a public holiday across Turkey, schools and workplaces will continue their normal operating schedules. However, the Istanbul Governor's decision will create a small exception due to traffic congestion and security concerns in the city. In addition to the early holiday decision on December 31, the Governor's Office also announced that schools will be closed on January 1, Wednesday.
This decision, significant for students and parents, causes the New Year holiday to start half a day early. Since January 1 is a public holiday, students will not attend school after the New Year and can continue their holidays uninterrupted. Teachers and students will commence the first lesson day of the new year on January 2, Thursday.
