Aydem Hosts the Second Edition of Innovative Ideas Camp
Foreks - An event held with the participation of university students across Turkey featured a total of 69 projects submitted on the themes of Energy Systems, IoT Technologies, Artificial Intelligence, Smart Cities, and E-Mobility from 19 different universities. After a preliminary evaluation process, 20 projects advanced to the finals, where they were developed with the assistance of mentors throughout the camp. The projects were assessed by jury members based on criteria such as purpose, significance, unique value, added value, and feasibility. The top three successful projects were awarded.
The first-place award was won by the Energy Guardians Team from Suleyman Demirel University, which developed an AI-supported monitoring system to predict failures in power transformers. This project, prepared by Nazım Can Öztürk and Nida Ayça Yavuz, aims to prevent power outages and extend the lifespan of transformers by early detection of insulation issues. The system continuously monitors temperature and pressure values of the transformers through sensors to detect abnormal conditions.
The second-place team, the DUCK Team from Pamukkale University, designed a system that analyzes energy consumption habits and helps individuals save energy. Prepared by Enes Gürbüz and Mehmet Furkan Kesgin, this project provides users with savings recommendations by profiling the energy consumption of devices used in homes and businesses. The system analyzes how much energy is consumed by different devices using AI-based algorithms and encourages users to adopt energy-friendly behaviors.
Third place was awarded to the InoTech Team from Pamukkale University, which developed a monitoring system called PipeWatch to identify issues in sewer infrastructure. The project, prepared by Yiğit Turgut Argıtlı and İlteriş Aykol, continuously monitors sewer systems with the support of smart sensors and solar energy. This system detects sudden changes in water levels and blockages in advance, reducing environmental risks and improving urban infrastructure management. It also aims to prevent water flooding, protecting public health and reducing maintenance costs. Additionally, it supports municipalities in planning their infrastructure investments by analyzing data.
Inspiring Solutions for the Future Mustafa İren, General Manager of Aydem Retail and Gediz Retail, stated regarding the event organized in line with Aydem Energy's sustainability vision: “Building a sustainable future in the energy sector is possible not only with innovative technologies but also with investments in the human resources that develop these technologies.
