"Strong Tomorrows Project Launched with Otokar"
Foreks - Otokar (IS:OTKAR) has launched the "Strong Futures with Otokar" project aimed at enhancing the competency of the younger generation in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and strengthening vocational training in our country.
As the first step of the project, Otokar established an Electric Vehicles Workshop at the SATSO Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School for Motor Vehicle Technologies located in Arifiye, where the Otokar factory is situated. Otokar will also support the development of a skilled workforce for future technologies by providing internship and scholarship opportunities to students.
CONTRIBUTION TO COMPETENCIES IN THE FIELD OF ELECTRIC VEHICLES The protocol signing ceremony for the cooperation and the opening of the workshop was attended by Arifiye District Governor Ahmet Can Pınar, Arifiye Mayor İsmail Karakullukçu, Yüksel Gülaç, the Arifiye District National Education Director, A. Akgün Altuğ, President of the Sakarya Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SATSO), Onur Vural, Deputy General Manager of Otokar, Otokar executives, Emrah Önal, Principal of SATSO-MAT MTAL, school administrators, teachers, and students.
During the ceremony, Yüksel Gülaç and Onur Vural signed the cooperation protocol. Within the framework of the project, 11th-grade students will have the opportunity to intern at the Otokar factory. In particular, scholarships will be awarded to 12 successful students, primarily female students. Additionally, Otokar's engineering and technical teams will periodically provide training on current topics and developments in the sector.
The Electric Vehicles Workshop, one of Turkey's first training centers for electric vehicles, equipped with all technical facilities provided by Otokar, will enable students to become proficient in current technologies in the electric vehicle field, facilitating their development through practical applications alongside theoretical education.
"WE PLACE IMPORTANCE ON THE PARTICIPATION OF OUR FEMALE STUDENTS" Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Onur Vural emphasized the importance of a skilled workforce in technology, stating, "It is crucial for our country’s advancement in technology to nurture a workforce that is proficient in current and future technologies. With the 'Strong Futures with Otokar' project, we will support the development of competent generations in STEM fields. Through this project, we aim to enhance competencies in technology and innovation while also supporting vocational education. We place great importance on the participation of our female students in this project to ensure equal opportunities in education."
Vural noted that the workshop established at SATSO-MAT MTAL is a significant step for the future of the industry, stating, "As Otokar, we are not just a company that designs and manufactures, but a firm that values developing, disseminating technology, and contributing to the future. With this project, while supporting our youth in shaping their future, we will help train a qualified workforce that strengthens our country’s technological infrastructure. The youth who will be trained here will gain valuable experiences in electric vehicles."
