Stellantis President to Address Italian Parliament on the Evolution of the Automotive Industry

Investing.com -- Stellantis Chairman John Elkann has agreed to address the Italian parliament regarding the evolution of the automotive industry in Europe and Italy. This information was included in a statement from the automaker. Elkann was known to have shown resistance to calls for him to speak before lawmakers initially. The company's announcement comes after Stellantis recently revealed plans to increase production in Italy, indicating a significant improvement in the company's previously strained relationship with the Italian government.

Elkann is temporarily leading the company following the resignation of CEO Carlos Tavares. Tavares had a challenging meeting with Italian lawmakers in October. Now, according to the company's statement, Elkann will speak before the relevant committees of both houses of parliament.

The statement did not specify a definite date for Elkann's parliamentary session. A representative of the president of the lower house of parliament also confirmed that a date for the session has not yet been set. This announcement came a day after Fiat's parent company, Stellantis, outlined an optimistic plan to increase production in Italy, warming relations with the country's nationalist government.
