RENEWAL - Qatar Energy Minister: "I'm Not Too Worried" About Trump's Promise to Lift LNG Export Limits
The Qatari Minister of Energy stated that he is not overly concerned about the promise made by U.S. President-elect Donald Trump to lift restrictions on liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports. Saad Sherida Al Kaabi, the Qatari Minister of Energy and CEO of state gas company QatarEnergy, remarked, "There will be a need for additional gas, whether it's from the U.S., Qatar, or elsewhere. Therefore, additional LNG and additional competition will be welcomed." He added, "If you open the door for LNG, you could say we would export an additional 300-500 million tons from the U.S. All these projects are driven by private initiatives looking at the commercial viability of the projects, and there will be a limit. Everything will depend on supply, demand, and the long-term outlook of these companies," and he stated, "I'm not too worried about this."
