Bolat: Inspections Intensify Against Businesses Capitalizing on Minimum Wage Increase
The Minister of Trade, Ömer Bolat, noted that inspections against businesses that increased prices before the minimum wage hike, taking advantage of the opportunity, are ongoing and intensifying. Minister Bolat stated on X, "19 million lira fines for those exploiting the minimum wage... As a result of inspections by the Ministry of Trade, 197,883 firms were fined 4 billion 758 million TL in administrative penalties in the first 11 months of 2024." He added, "As the Ministry of Trade, we will continue our efforts to protect the economic well-being of our citizens and ensure a fair market structure in our domestic trade. In this context, we are increasing our inspections against businesses that raise prices before the minimum wage increase, applying legal penalties."
