BIST 100 Struggles to Maintain 9,900 Points Amidst Sideways Movement

The BIST 100 index started the day positively, but selling pressures intensified during afternoon trading. The BIST 100 initially moved upward in the morning, rising by 0.8% to as high as 9,965 points. As the index approached the 10,000-point threshold, it declined to 9,985 points due to the selling pressure. As the final hour approached, the index was attempting to hold above 9,900 points with a 0.2% increase.

Today, funds shifted towards the non-BIST 100 index, which rose by half a point, while the BIST 30 remained flat. The sectors putting pressure on the index include petrochemicals, real estate, and metal goods. On the other hand, the most sought-after sectors today are insurance, cement, and factoring.

In the domestic currency market, the dollar/TL continues at the 34.7 level, while the euro/TL is seeing an increase of just over half a point, trading at 36.74. The gram gold is down by 0.25%, standing at 2,952 TL.

In international markets, European indices are generally continuing their buying trend. However, U.S. futures indices are showing a selling trend ahead of the market opening.
