"UK Expected to Reach Peak Number of Petrol Vehicles This Year"

According to a new report, gasoline vehicles in the UK are expected to peak this year, while electric vehicles are on track to capture a much larger share of the country's automotive market.

In an analysis published by Auto Trader, it was stated that with drivers shifting towards EVs, the number of gasoline vehicles on UK roads is anticipated to nearly halve over the next decade. In 2024, there is an estimated 18.7 million gasoline vehicles on the country’s roads, but this figure is expected to steadily decrease to just 11 million.

At the same time, the number of electric vehicles on UK roads, currently at 1.25 million in 2024, is expected to rise to 13.7 million over the next decade, driven by increasing affordability.
