One in Four New Cars Sold in the UK in November is Fully Electric
According to reports, it has been noted that one in four new cars on the roads in the UK is fully electric. Data released by New AutoMotive shows that these figures represent the highest monthly market share for electric vehicles in nearly two years. The November figures surpass the 22% target that manufacturers were expected to reach this year under the country's electric vehicle sales quota. The results for November support the position presented by clean energy advocates like New AutoMotive, who oppose the automotive industry's attempts to dilute the UK's electric vehicle mandate. Last week, the government stated it would review the rules in response to complaints from car manufacturers, who reported a decline in sales due to the mandate not stimulating demand. Ben Nelmes, CEO of New AutoMotive, commented, "Ministers should not pull the rug out from under this progress while reviewing UK policy on electric vehicles." The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) will officially announce the November sales results today.
