EU Commission Investigates Nvidia Hardware Bundling

The European Commission, the antitrust regulators of the EU, is asking whether Nvidia offered discounts for its customers to purchase its graphic processing unit (GPU) software products alongside its hardware while reviewing its $700 million bid for Run:ai. According to a report, an EU observer in a survey focused on potential applications that could strengthen Nvidia's dominance in GPUs, where it holds an 84% market share, significantly ahead of competitors Intel (NASDAQ: INTC) and AMD (NASDAQ: AMD). The European Commission, acting as the competition enforcer for the European Union, had previously warned that the deal could threaten competition in the markets where both companies operate and set a deadline for preliminary review until December 20.
