Macron Urges French Lawmakers Not to Bring Down the Government

Forex - President Emmanuel Macron urged French lawmakers to set aside personal ambitions and reject a vote that could bring down the government and plunge the country into political turmoil. Far-right leader Marine Le Pen and her National Rally party pledged on Wednesday to support a no-confidence motion put forward by the left coalition, which could pass if endorsed by both groups. The National Rally became the largest single party in the lower house of parliament in the early elections held in June, turning Le Pen into one of Paris's most influential power brokers. However, Macron expressed confidence that politicians would step back from the brink. Macron stated, "The only question politicians should be asking themselves today is how they can be useful to the country and the French people, not how they can be useful to their own ambitions or interests." French lawmakers will begin discussing the motions on Wednesday at 18:00 CET, with voting expected to follow shortly afterward.
