Shopify Sellers Hit Record $11.5 Billion During Black Friday-Cyber Monday Sales

NEW YORK - A trade technology company, Shopify Inc. (NYSE:SHOP), announced that its merchants recorded sales of $11.5 billion during the Black Friday-Cyber Monday (BFCM) weekend, marking a 24% increase compared to the previous year.

The increase in sales began early Friday morning in New Zealand and continued until late Monday in California. Over 76 million customers worldwide shopped from Shopify-powered brands. The peak shopping moment occurred at 12:01 EST on Black Friday, when sales reached $4.6 million per minute.

In commenting on the success, Shopify President Harley Finkelstein highlighted the transformation of Black Friday into a global event that businesses of all sizes can participate in. Finkelstein emphasized Shopify's role in empowering the spirit of entrepreneurship and celebrating the successes of its merchants on a global scale.

On Black Friday alone, Shopify's systems managed 284 million requests per minute at the endpoint and over 80 million requests on application servers, transmitting 12TB of data per minute.
