Minister Bolat: "Turkey-Iraq's Mid-Term Trade Goal is $30 Billion"
The Minister of Trade, Ömer Bolat, announced that the trade volume between Turkey and Iraq is targeted to increase to $30 billion in the medium term. Assessments made during the Turkey-Iraq JETCO Meeting outlined the steps to be taken to achieve this goal.
Turkey-Iraq partnership is strengthening
In a statement made via the X platform, Ömer Bolat provided information regarding the Turkey-Iraq JETCO Meeting, which was chaired by Turkey. During the meeting, Bolat met with Iraqi Minister of Trade Atheer Dawood Salman al-Ghurairi to discuss the steps that could deepen the commercial ties between the two countries. Intense exchanges of ideas were particularly focused on enhancing bilateral relations and mutual investments.
Minister Bolat emphasized that Iraq is one of Turkey's most important trade partners, noting that increasing diversity and depth in these relations is a strategic objective. Various sectors and projects that the two countries could collaborate on were also evaluated during the meeting. In this context, it was stated that the Development Road Project would further strengthen the economic relations between the two countries.
Medium-term goal: $30 billion trade volume
Bolat identified the elevation of the trade volume between Turkey and Iraq to $30 billion as one of the primary objectives in the medium term, stating that Turkey is ready to take all necessary steps to further develop trade relations with Iraq. It was noted that, in line with this goal, existing trade dynamics would be enhanced and new investment areas would be explored.
While this increase in trade volume is expected to strengthen not only economic but also cultural and social relations between the two countries, it is stated that each step taken to deepen economic partnership will yield significant benefits for the citizens of both countries. Announcements following the meetings indicate that there is a serious effort towards establishing a strong trade bridge between Turkey and Iraq.
