Uraloğlu: Today We Are Transporting to Nearly 70 Countries Across 3 Continents by Road
The Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu made statements regarding the road transportation sector. Minister Uraloğlu stated, "Today, we carry out transportation by road to nearly 70 countries across 3 continents. Currently, 33% of our exports are conducted through road transportation. Our road exports reached 71.5 billion dollars in the first 10 months of 2024. This year, 140.9 million passengers were transported in 13.8 million trips for ticketed or tourism purposes. Approximately 900,000 drivers are employed in road transportation."
Evaluating the data on the road transportation sector, Minister Uraloğlu emphasized, "About 900,000 drivers work in road transportation in our country. Our drivers, working in every area from long-distance driving to urban transportation, are the backbone of the processes from production to marketing and export."
"The Road Transport Regulation has made the sector more efficient" Uraloğlu noted that they have reshaped the road transportation sector with comprehensive regulations since 2003, stating, "With the enforcement of the Road Transport Regulation, the sector has become more efficient, safe, and economical in compliance with European Union legislation. We have accelerated the process of making our country an international logistics hub while ensuring the rights, interests, and well-being of sector employees."
"140.9 million passengers were transported in 13.8 million trips" Uraloğlu mentioned the importance of digitalization in enhancing quality in the sector, recalling that they launched the Transportation Electronic Tracking and Supervision System (U-ETDS) in 2018. He stated, "U-ETDS was a turning point in the digitalization and record-keeping of the transportation sector. As companies began to transmit trip and passenger information to the system, it started to be used more effectively. According to U-ETDS, in 2024, a total of 13.8 million trips will be organized for ticketed or tourism purposes on the road, transporting 140.9 million passengers. U-ETDS not only increases efficiency but also aligns the transportation market with international standards."
"67.9% of Authorization Certificate Processing Transactions were Completed through the E-Government Portal" Stating that many processes can be conducted through E-Government to facilitate operations for transporters, Uraloğlu highlighted, "Many transactions under the Road Transport Regulation, such as the issuance of authorization certificates and the addition of vehicles to the authorization certificate annex, can be conducted via the E-Government Portal. As of 2024, 67.9% of authorization certificate processing transactions and 83.36% of vehicle addition transactions were completed through the E-Government Portal."
"We have Road Transportation Agreements with 60 Countries" Minister Uraloğlu indicated that efforts to develop road transportation continue, stating, "Today, we conduct transportation by road to nearly 70 countries across 3 continents. We have road transportation agreements with 60 countries. The Road Transportation Agreement we previously signed with China has come into effect, and we signed an agreement with Qatar on November 14, 2024. We continue to take necessary steps for the development of transportation."
"Our Road Exports Have Reached 71.5 Billion Dollars" Sharing data on exports in the road transportation sector, Uraloğlu remarked, "Currently, 33% of our total exports are conducted through road transportation. Our road exports have reached 71.5 billion dollars in the first 10 months of 2024. Our annual export trip count has exceeded 1.6 million. We achieved this success thanks to the sacrifices and efforts of our approximately 900,000 drivers in the transportation sector."
