According to Türk-İş calculations, the hunger threshold has reached 20.6 thousand TL.
According to Türk-İş's study, the hunger threshold reached 20,561.65 TL in November.
According to the announced data, the hunger threshold is at 20,561.65 TL, the poverty threshold is at 66,976.07 TL, and the "cost of living" for a single worker has risen to 26,712.30 TL per month.
The statement said: "The continuously increasing cost of living, the injustice in income distribution and taxation, has further worsened the living conditions of all segments of society, especially workers with fixed and limited incomes, and continues to do so every day. As of today, the existing minimum wage is only sufficient for a four-person family for 7 days. Although earning a wage that provides a dignified level of income is a constitutional right, millions of workers are left to maintain their lives with low and inadequate earnings along with their families. Workers are expected to make sacrifices to overcome the economic crisis. As we have stated before, wage earners are not the cause of inflation; they are victims of it. There is a need for a fair tax system to balance income and wealth inequality in our country, along with comprehensive social policies.
For 37 years, the TÜRK-İŞ Confederation has been conducting this monthly research to reveal the living conditions of workers and to determine the impact of price changes of basic necessities on family budgets. According to the results for November 2024:
The minimum monthly food expenditure necessary for a family of four living in Ankara to be healthy, balanced, and adequately nourished (hunger threshold) is 20,561.65 TL. The total amount of mandatory monthly expenditures for food, clothing, housing (rent, electricity, water, fuel), transportation, education, health, and similar needs (poverty threshold) reaches 66,976.07 TL. The "cost of living" for a single worker has also risen to 26,712.30 TL per month.
- The expenditure amounts may vary in total due to rounding.
According to TÜRK-İŞ data, the change in "kitchen inflation" data as of November 2024 is as follows: The increase in the minimum expenditure amount required for food for a four-person family living in Ankara occurred at a rate of 0.64% compared to the previous month. The ten-month change rate was 42.47%. The change rate for the last twelve months was calculated as 46.60%. The average annual increase was realized at 67.20%.
