BIST 100 Kicks Off the Day Flat: Which Stocks Took the Spotlight at Opening?

The BIST 100 index started the day with an increase of 0.11% at 9,650.73 points, then pulled back towards the 9,630 point band, remaining flat.

The BIST 100 index displayed a flat trend during yesterday's trading, closing at the opening level of 9,640 points. The index saw a daily low of 9,586.90 and a high of 9,672.36 points. Yesterday, 46 stocks gained value while 51 stocks lost value. The total trading volume of the index was 83.65 billion TL, which constituted approximately 73% of the total trading volume of the exchange.

Data released this morning indicated that the Turkish economy grew by 2.1% year-on-year in the third quarter of 2024, which was below the expected growth rate of 2.3%.

In the first hour of trading on BIST, the insurance, communication, and banking sectors were the highest gainers. Meanwhile, trade, sports, and construction were among the sectors that started the day in negative territory. Across Borsa Istanbul, PEKGY, along with KRGYO and DARDL shares, reached the ceiling price at the opening. CRDFA, IZFAS, and MMCAS shares began the day as the biggest decliners.

In the domestic foreign exchange market, the dollar/TL started the day with an increase of 0.25% at 34.69. Euro/TL rose by nearly half a point in the first hour of the day, reaching 36.73. Gram gold also gained nearly 1% in value, rising to 2,967 TL.

In overseas stock markets, the diverging momentum of Chinese indices in Asia continues. On the last trading day of the week, while Chinese stocks rose, the rest of the market moved in a downward trend. European indices had a positive trajectory in yesterday's trading. However, today, European futures indices are showing a negative trend. US futures, on the other hand, are continuing positively this morning.
