Aegean Miners to Collaboratively Define Their 2025 Strategies

Forex - The first two "Mining Sectoral Strategy Meetings" organized by the Aegean Mineral Exporters Association will be held in the second half of December in Denizli and Muğla. High-level executives from major institutions in the finance world will also attend the meetings.

Ibrahim Alimoğlu, the President of the Aegean Mineral Exporters Association, stated that by utilizing Turkey's underground wealth, they have increased their exports by 5% to reach 4 billion 990 million dollars in the first ten months of 2024. He emphasized the importance of sectoral unity to ensure the continuation of growth in mineral exports in 2025.

Alimoğlu noted that as the Aegean Mineral Exporters Association, they have increased their exports from 886 million dollars to 1 billion 91 million dollars with a 23% growth in the January-October period of 2024. To sustain this success in 2025, they have decided to organize “Mining Sectoral Strategy Meetings” in the provinces within their jurisdiction, with the first two meetings scheduled for the second half of December in Denizli and Muğla.

Denizli ranks as the 5th province with the highest mineral exports. Ibrahim Alimoğlu mentioned that Denizli contributed 216.5 million dollars to Turkey's mineral exports in the January-October period of 2024, making it the fifth province with the highest contribution. He highlighted the global demand for Denizli travertine, particularly in the USA.

The mining sector is the second largest exporter in Muğla. Alimoğlu pointed out that the mining sector is a strong figure in the Muğla economy, as Muğla's mineral exporters became the second-largest exporting sector with an export of 102 million dollars in the first ten months of 2024. He noted that the recent fluctuations in foreign exchange rates in Turkey have not aligned with the rising production costs. We are going through a period of selective demand due to a recession in the global market. Under these conditions, there is a greater need for collective intelligence to protect our production, employment, and exports. We will hear forecasts for 2025 from economists who analyze developments in the global economy. Representatives from Türk Eximbank A.Ş., Türk Ticaret Bankası, and İGE A.Ş. will explain the opportunities available to exporters. Authorized personnel from our Aegean Exporters' Associations General Secretariat will provide information to exporters regarding government incentives.

The Aegean Mineral Exporters Association will continue the “Mining Sectoral Strategy Meetings” with its members in other provinces within its jurisdiction in January 2025.
