U.S. Steel Imports Surge 12.0% Month-over-Month in October

According to the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), steel imports in October increased by an estimated 12.0% compared to September, reaching 2.394 million tons.

The data shows that the U.S. imported 1.840 million tons of finished steel in October 2024, marking an 8.6% increase.

In the first ten months of the year, total and finished steel imports rose by 2.6% and 2.7% respectively compared to 2023.

In the 12-month period from November 2023 to October 2024, total and finished steel imports increased by 1.9% and remained stable compared to the previous 12-month period.
