Legislative Proposal for Teachers Eliminated in Interviews
A bill concerning amendments to the Law on State Officials, signed by 15 deputies of the DEVA Party (IS:DEVA), has been presented to the Presidency of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM).
The proposal aims to allocate additional positions for teachers who, despite succeeding in the KPSS and interviews, were excluded due to imbalances in inter-commission evaluations. If the relevant proposal is enacted, the issues faced by teachers who were affected during the 2024 contracted teacher recruitment process and have gained significant public attention as "interview victims" will be resolved.
Mehmet Emin Ekmen, the DEVA Party's Deputy Chairman responsible for overseeing processes related to the Ministry of National Education and a Member of Parliament for Mersin, stated, “The method we propose in this bill is a problem-solving approach that the AK Party has repeatedly tried in the past with problematic exam results. We presented this bill to the Parliament Presidency with the joint signatures of all our colleagues after consulting with our Chairman, Mr. Ali Babacan.”
Ekmen also noted that they will discuss adding the temporary article in their proposal to the Budget Law or upcoming packages with AK Party Group Chairman Abdullah Güler and Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin.
Finally, Ekmen stated that, in principle, they are against interviews in public recruitment except in exceptional cases, but the purpose of this proposal is to address the specific grievances experienced in recent recruitments.
