Minimal Progress in EU-China Electric Vehicle Tariff Negotiations
According to a report citing informed sources, the European Union has made only limited progress in recent weeks in negotiations with China aimed at reaching a comprehensive agreement on the elimination of customs duties on electric vehicles.
China and the EU are continuing technical discussions following talks held earlier this month in Beijing, where both sides noted that some progress had been made. However, sources stated that not much has changed since those discussions, describing the interactions between the two parties as minimal.
Sources also added that China has yet to act in accordance with the EU's strict requirements to ensure any regulation is feasible and to comply with the impact of the anti-subsidy tariffs that the bloc adopted last month. According to a diplomat familiar with the matter, member states have also not been informed of any significant progress.
