Officials say Israel has finalized ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah in Lebanon - FT

According to a report, U.S. diplomats are attempting to broker a ceasefire agreement to end the conflict that has been ongoing for more than a year between Israel and the Lebanese militant group, while Israeli officials indicated that an agreement to end the clashes with Hezbollah could be reached “within a few days.”

Israeli Ambassador to the U.S. Mike Herzog stated in an interview with Israeli army radio that Israel is “close to an agreement.” Herzog added, “We still need to finalize a few points, which require cabinet approval on our side. However, I believe we are making progress.”

An Israeli official mentioned that the Israeli security cabinet will convene on Tuesday afternoon to vote on the agreement. U.S. National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby stated on Monday that while the agreement has not been finalized, “we believe we have reached a point where we are close.”

According to two Lebanese officials, the proposed agreement envisions a 60-day ceasefire during which the Israeli army would withdraw from Lebanon, and Hezbollah would move its weapons to the north of the Litani River, 30 kilometers away from the UN-delineated border.
