Huawei to Launch Its Own Software-Powered Smartphone

Forex - China's technology giant Huawei is preparing to launch its first flagship phone capable of running its own applications on a fully domestic operating system. The Mate 70 smartphone, set to be released on Tuesday, will feature HarmonyOS Next, which Huawei hopes to establish as the third major mobile operating system alongside Apple's iOS and Google's Android. Last month, the group reported a 30% increase in sales for the first nine months of 2024 compared to the previous year. The software launch of the Mate 70 builds on the hardware momentum from last year's introduction of the Mate 60, which operates with a domestically produced processor capable of speeds near those of 5G—something many in Washington believe is unattainable. Paul Triolo, a technology expert at the Albright Stonebridge Group, stated, "This is a significant milestone for China and stems from fears that the U.S. could cut everything off."
