Istanbul Stock Exchange Kicks Off the Week with Gains: Which Stocks Led the Opening?
The BIST 100 index started the week with a 0.72% increase, reaching 9,618.42 points.
After a positive opening in the BIST 100, buying continued in the initial trades, and the index rose above 1% to the 9,660 points range. In last week's transactions, the BIST 100 maintained its positive outlook with a 1.71% increase. The favorable trend of the previous week was influenced by signals indicating a possible interest rate cut from the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) in December. Following the release of the CBRT’s decision statement, a significant rise was observed, particularly in the banking index. Banks finished last week with an increase of 7.53%.
Banks started the new week as the most in-demand sector, followed by trade, cement, and insurance sectors. No sectors registered a negative opening, while electricity and petrochemicals were the least sought-after sectors. In the Istanbul Stock Exchange, CASA, VAKKO, and KERVN began the day at the ceiling price, registering the highest increases. DIRIT, BSOKE, and DURDO shares were the biggest losers at the opening.
In the domestic foreign exchange market, the dollar/TL started the week with a 0.1% increase, reaching 34.58. Euro/TL also saw a similar appreciation, trading at 35.25, while the price of gram gold fell by 1.7% to 2,965 TL.
In foreign markets, declines in Chinese indices continued at the opening of the week in Asia. The rest of Asia showed buying activity on the first day of the week. European and US stock markets closed the previous week on a positive note. In the early hours of the new week, it has been observed that futures indices continue to show a positive outlook.
