A "Intermediate Formula" Considering Year-End Inflation and Target Inflation May Be Proposed for Minimum Wage
In the negotiations regarding the minimum wage set to begin in December, a "compromise formula" that takes into account the end-of-year inflation and target inflation may come to the forefront. The Minimum Wage Determination Commission will convene at the beginning of December. Opposition parties are demanding increases for the current net minimum wage of 17,002 TL, with requests such as "at least 30,000 TL," "28,000 TL with an interim raise in July," and "32,000 - 35,000 TL." Meanwhile, the government's focus will be on the five-month inflation figures to be announced in December. As the debate continues over whether the actual inflation or the targeted inflation will be the determinant in the minimum wage increase, the possibility of introducing a compromise formula is also being discussed.
