EBRD President Renaud-Basso Visits Turkey for a 4-Day Engagement

Forex - The President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Odile Renaud-Basso, will visit Turkey from November 24 to 28. According to a statement from the EBRD, President Renaud-Basso is planning meetings in Ankara and Istanbul. During her four-day visit, discussions will be held with representatives from the private sector, civil society organizations (CSOs), and government officials.

Renaud-Basso will meet with ministers in Ankara. Additionally, she will participate in the launch of the Turkey Industrial Carbon Abatement Investment Platform (TIDIP), an initiative supported by the EBRD aimed at investing 5 billion USD by 2030. Renaud-Basso will also hold discussions with Fatih Karahan, the President of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT).

In addition to her busy travel schedule in Ankara, the EBRD President will attend a project ceremony in Istanbul, where she will meet with Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu. The EBRD President will also have meetings with diplomatic officials and representatives from other international financial institutions.

During the visit, the EBRD President is expected to announce a series of new projects aimed at supporting economic recovery following last year’s devastating earthquakes. Renaud-Basso stated about the visit: "Turkey has long been a key partner of the EBRD and our mutual commitment to sustainable development and economic resilience continues to strengthen. This visit reaffirms our determination to support Turkey's vision of inclusive growth, innovation, and a greener future. I look forward to having productive meetings with our Turkish partners as we explore new opportunities to move forward together."

In 2023, the EBRD made a record investment of 2.5 billion euros in Turkey, reflecting the Bank's strong response to the recovery and reconstruction needs of cities affected by the earthquake.
